Chris Henry Badly Injured in Car Crash; Domestic Dispute with Loleini Tonga to Blame?
Chris Henry, a receiver with the NFL's Cincinnati Bengals, was seriously injured after falling out of the back of a pickup truck during a domestic dispute.
Following the incident with his fiancee, Loleini Tonga, Henry was found on a Charlotte road "apparently suffering life-threatening injuries" police say.
Henry was transported to Carolinas Medical Center, the local trauma unit, but spokesman Scott White said he was not listed in hospital records.
Police officers say Henry jumped into the bed of the pickup truck as his unidentified fiance was driving away from an area home. Officials said:
"A domestic situation continued between the operator and Mr. Henry. At some point while driving, Henry came out of the back of the vehicle."
Loleini Tonga Pic
Chris Henry, 26, is badly hurt following an incident with Loleini Tonga.
Henry broke his left forearm in a win against the Baltimore Ravens on November 8, had surgery and was placed on season-ending injured reserve.
Charlotte is home to his Loleini Tonga’s parents.
"We are aware he was in an accident and that his injuries are very serious," spokesman Jack Brennan said of the Henry situation. "We are obviously staying in touch with the situation and are ready to offer whatever assistance we can."
Henry is in the last year of his contract with the Bengals, who let him go after his fifth arrest following the 2007 season, but later brought him back.
